The Grey Elves

If ever there was an aristocratic class amongst the elves it would be the Grey Elves.

Most are white haired and amber eyed (though a few have light gold hair and lavendar eyes), they are taller than other elves and more slender. Their clothing is considered to be a work of art and their every gesture is practiced.

The Grey elves produce the greatest mages and BladeSingers (warrior mages) and elven libraries. They build beautiful, delicate cities that are isolated from the outside world. The Grey elves try to distance themselves as far as they possiblely can from other races and different elven subraces.

They Grey elves have a rigid heirarchy and caste system; anyone striving to break this system is often exiled from both family and nation. They are not a very forgiving race. Eveyone has a set place in society and there are no if's-and's-or but's about it. Of all the elven subraces, they are the most resistant to change.

The Grey elves are the original elven race.

The best examples of Grey elves that I could find in the fantasy genre are from the Elven Nations Trilogy from TSR's DragonLance books. I am pretty sure that you will recognize the Silvanesti as the elven equivalent of the American WASP group (it is a little obvious).

In general I do not like the Grey Elves, but there are a few exceptions to the race. . .OKAY, one exception, Gilander from the Silvanost. THAT'S it.
